Hotel Oceana Review

Hotel Oceana is a lavish boutique style hotel situated on top of the bluffs of Santa Monica 200 feet above the ocean. The hotel is within walking distance of the Third Street Promenade, Santa Monica Place mall and the upscale Montana Avenue. It's also just a short drive to the popular shops and restaurants on Main Street. You can walk to Santa Monica Beach from the hotel within a few minutes by taking the stairs at Palisades Park that lead to the walk bridge over the Pacific Coast Highway.

Hotel Oceana's lobby features a magnificent glass atrium ceiling allowing the warm Californian sunshine to seep through. Hotel Oceana also boasts a central courtyard with a year-round heated outdoor pool flanked by an outdoor fireplace and a colorful glass mosaic-tiled fountain. Surrounding the pool are lounge chairs, cafe tables and lush plants. Don't expect to much privacy due to the pool's central location. Most of the rooms surround the pool with the hotel's rectangular in shape.

A 24-hour state-of- the-art fitness center is open for guests to keep up with their workout routine while on vacation. It includes treadmills, elliptical machines, stationary bicycles and free weights. Guests may also request on-site personal trainers (depending on their availability) or massages in their rooms. Guest may also join private yoga, pilates and meditation classes. The hotel does not have a spa but it is closely tied with full-service spas in Santa Monica. This three-storey hotel has a meeting facility, the Ocean Boardroom that can provide meeting space for up to 20 people.

For guests' dining desires from breakfast to dinner, they may drop by the upscale, but casual indoor restaurant, the Ocean Lounge, which is open from early morning until midnight. A breakfast buffet is served between 7:00 to 10:30 AM. Ocean Lounge allows you to enjoy a view of the sparkling waters of Santa Monica Bay as you savor your meals. The meals may also be served poolside with choices from the restaurant's menu. The Ocean Lounge offers a full bar with specialty drinks. Guests may also have cocktails, wine or beer sent up to their rooms or have them served by poolside.

Hotel Oceana has 70 spacious non-smoking guest rooms, which are larger than most hotels in Santa Monica; however, the rooms are not soundproof. Many guest rooms provide an ocean view. The colors in the rooms are sunny and contemporary, exuding a homey atmosphere. The doors can be fully opened to let the breeze it, though guests can still maintain their privacy by using the wooden blinds. Each guest room has the following perks, a full-length mirror, wooden louvered shutters that can be opened for some ventilation, an iHome docking station, a HD flat panel TV with premium television channels as well as pay movies and a sitting area stocked with books. Other amenities include bathrobes, a bathroom phone, a ceiling fan, climate control, a clock radio, a coffee and tea maker, cribs available upon request, designer toiletries, a desk with lots of drawers, extra towels and bedding, a hair dryer, high-speed Internet access, daily housekeeping, hypo-allergenic bedding (available upon request), in-room childcare for a fee, in room safe, an iron and ironing board, a minibar, a multi-line phone, premium Egyptian cotton bed linens, a sewing kit, voice mail, wake-up calls, and wireless Internet access. Room service is available but only on limited hours. The huge bathrooms are decorated in classic marble with a shower, a bathtub, plush bathrobes, Frette Italian bath sheets and fragrant soaps.

Included with the price of room, there is a resort fee that entitles you to unlimited Wi-Fi Internet access throughout the hotel, local phone calls, use of the pool, use of sporting facilities and equipment. Valet parking is at available for a fee. Other services offered by Hotel Oceana include: a 24-hour front desk, 24-hour concierge service, air conditioning, all public and private spaces are non-smoking, babysitting and child services, room service, car rental, dry cleaning, elevator, fax and photocopying, laundry service, umbrella rental, courier service, nightly turn down service, wake up service, luggage storage, newspapers, facilities for disabled guests and a tour desk.
